Torrey House personal care home provides supervision and assistance with personal care tasks for or people with physical, behavioral, or cognitive disabilities. Program Services and Supports Torrey House specializes in working with individuals who have schizophrenia and similar serious mental illnesses. The program serves a maximum of 17 individuals from Delaware County, PA. The program operates in a large group home setting where residential counselors provide 24-hour support and supervision. Torrey House provides individuals with opportunities to socialize and attend daily therapeutic groups. Groups focus on psycho-education, health and nutrition, forming interpersonal relations, and arts and crafts. Emphasis is also placed on participation in activities and community events, which enhance resident lives and promote socialization and familiarity as well as integration with the local community. Residential staff is trained in supportive counseling, crisis management, and basic psychiatric rehabilitation and clinical principles. Staff considers the diversity of residents' cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds and degrees of symptomatology to insure they respond to consumer issues in an individualized manner.
