Torrey House personal care home provides supervision and assistance with personal care tasks for or people with physical, behavioral, or cognitive disabilities.

Program Services and Supports
Services are based on the individual needs of each resident.  Services focus on therapeutic intervention to integrate rehabilitation and recovery while meeting the needs of the individual. Torrey House is licensed as a Personal Care Home by the PA Department of Welfare.

Torrey House specializes in working with individuals who have schizophrenia and similar serious mental illnesses. The program serves a maximum of 17 individuals from Delaware County, PA. The program operates in a large group home setting where residential counselors provide 24-hour support and supervision. Services are not time limited and residents may stay until they are ready for a less structured level of care.

Torrey House provides participants with:

• Assistance with management of personal funds;
  
• Three meals per day, seven days per week;
  
• Supervision of medication management;
  
• Support with Activities of Daily Living: hygiene activities, managing appointments, transportation, personal shopping, etc.
  
• Assistance with laundry, linens and room care.

Torrey House provides individuals with opportunities to socialize and attend daily therapeutic groups.  Groups focus on psycho-education, health and nutrition, forming interpersonal relations, and arts and crafts. Emphasis is also placed on participation in activities and community events, which enhance resident lives and promote socialization and familiarity as well as integration with the local community.

Residential staff is trained in supportive counseling, crisis management, and basic psychiatric rehabilitation and clinical principles.  Staff considers the diversity of residents' cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds and degrees of symptomatology to insure they respond to consumer issues in an individualized manner.
