Individuals over 50 living with mental illnesses face unique challenges in community living. Senior Supported Shared Living addresses the specialized needs of the individual.  These services increase the potential for individuals to live active, satisfying lives in homes of their own.

Program Services and Supports

Individuals live in clustered apartments that provide a comfortable and personalized home.  Privacy and mobility are maximized through private bedrooms in a fully accessible building.
The staff of the Senior Supported Shared Living program assists residents in the development and enhancement of the skills necessary to live successfully in the community.

The staff works in teams to offer an array of services to participants in their homes and in the community.  A full time nurse performs medication administration, first aid, and coordination of medical/dental services. Specially trained counselors assist individuals in daily household tasks such as cooking, housekeeping and shopping.  SSL staff are dedicated to promoting active coordination of care among all providers involved in an individual’s treatment.

Residents at Senior Supported Shared Living participate in a wide variety of daytime activities including senior centers, employment and various social programs.  Special recreational programs provide life enriching activities at home and in the community.

Individual interests and needs determine the level and nature of social supports for each resident.  Peer support is encouraged throughout activities in the program.  When possible, family involvement is facilitated and encouraged as is participation in natural community activities.
